Alright so the update so far;

I got my ASUS M3A79-T Deluxe in today ^_^ so I can bring this beast partially alive

Image

So now it was time to remove the mount from the board and prep it for the waterblock but I left the backplate on the motherboard.

Image

After I installed the Phenom 9950 Black Edition, I hit it up with Arctic Clean and then I hit the CPU with some OCZ Freeze, which both you can get your hands on them from AcousticPC.com

Image

Then I installed the D-Tek FuZion V2 block.

Image

Then I followed that up with installing the little ASUS Fan and the G.Skill Memory

Image

Now for this baby to meet its new home :)

Image

Lastly the all important Leak Testing and Bleeding, One loop down, one to go ^_^

Image

Now I will have some more updates coming at the end of the weekend, so stay tuned...

Sorry for the lack of update, hit a slight financial wall when we got hit with that huge economy drop but Im somewhat back on track, I recently ordered a ASUS EAH4870 1gb card and at the beginning of next month I will order a second, I already have a sponsor for the 4870 water blocks so as soon as I get the last card I will have those blocks sent out and I will be able to official call this project complete and start showing some benchies. ^__^

Well I ordered the ASUS 4870 Dark Knight yesterday and I got it today, man I love the place I work for lol, anyhow this is one of two, once I get the second card in, I will then have the EK waterblocks shipped out for them and then I will be close to calling this build done, again I said close I have a few more things after that to still do. ;)

anyhow here are a couple teaser shots, I will be on vacation with limited to no internet activity until Sunday night (11/30/09) so you may or may not see me until then. ^__^

Alright so when I got the oh so pretty waterblocks for my two ASUS 4870 1gb Dark Knight cards I realized that once again the ATI reference design has been changed for yet a 5th time so these current blocks would not work with the current PCB layout.

Well I stared at it for a while and realized that I could cut the lip that attaches the power regulator cooler gets attached it would then clear those capacitors and I would leave the stock cooling thats already on the power regulators. This way I can still use the full coverage blocks. :)

Image

So lets begin....

I first started by masking of the block and then taking my dremel cut off the lip and then followed that up with some sanding to make it nice and smooth.

Image

and here it is installed....

Image

so ya its somewhat of a tight fit but everything clears, so one block down one more yo go and then a few more plumbing parts to come in and I will be able to finish the second loop. :Thumb

Race, will you BIOS mod the 4870s like you did with the 4850s?

most likely, but I will see how it does as is and then see what I can push it to with a bios mod.

So I stumbled across your F.E.A.R. build somewhere about 3 hours ago, I have been on your site since. After looking at that build I was really impressed and had to check out the rest of your projects. I have to say that I was so disappointed when I saw that this wasn't a complete project yet, kinda figured I was going to get to see the whole thing. Looks like I have something to look forward to after the holidays, lol! I am really impressed with the amount of detail in your work and your patience on the build, and using sketchup is a sweet bonus. I just wanted to say keep up the good work, and I can't wait to see how this thing turns out!

Welcome to the forums NSG, well the 30th is when I get the last few parts for the loop, so I plan to finish the loop that day, then all that will be left on this rig will be the etch and graphical work and then I shall call this complete and then focus back on one of the other open projects eg Open Air Test Bed and wrap that up. Then it will be onto any of the other number of projects already planned such as the Hamtaro Project.

well a bit of sad news, the four little pieces of plumbing needed to finish the graphics card loop has been delayed due to UPS and well I dont know but now it states it wont be here until the 2nd so my guess is a storm or somethin is slowing the shipment so we must wait for now ~_~
