Logitech G15 Keyboard
What can we say, its Logitech. When it comes to their packaging they always try to achieve a look of elegance with professionalism and a touch of "wow." The box certainly shows off the looks of this keyboard and its features, as well as some of the games that take advantage of the built in LCD screen.
When we cut the seal and opened up the packaging we were first greeted by the keyboard wrist rest attachment and the software and manual. Not really the wow factor that we were looking for but we suppose they are just hiding the best for last.
So lets lift that thin piece of cardboard that is separating us from the G15.... slowly... slowly.... oh ya that's the stuff right there! The G15 is encased in a protective plastic bag to keep it free from potential scratches and dirty fingers.
Lets step back a moment and look back at the software and manuals and well here we are. You have one CD that contains all the software to use the G15, an installation manual that also shows how to use the G15 and a little booklet with some very important information... Yea, we sort of forgot to look at that but so far nothing has blown up so we think we are in the clear, but you should probably check it out just in case.
Now lets take a look at the G15 in all its glory.
On the right hand side we have programmable G macro keys for use in different applications like Photoshop commands, or game shortcuts, and so on. Above the G keys is a display that lets you switch between three pre-programmed macro profiles to change the G macro keys for other commands. The display as media controls surround the screen and that circular button across from the reverse and stop buttons, which when pressed switches between applications displayed on the LCD. Below the LCD are buttons that interact with the application in use. Behind the LCD screen there is two USB 2.0 plugs for use with say a mouse or any other device that requires little power, certain items like USB Flash drives require more power and may not function. Towards the top right of the keyboard, next to the to the caps locks LED, is a button that controls the back lighting of the keyboard. There are three options, for the LEDs: off, mild, and bright. While using the keyboard we found the keys to be very responsive, easy on the fingers and the back lighting easy to read.
