QNAP TS-439 Pro Turbo NAS
Wow, man! For the tiny NAS that the TS-430 Pro Turbo is, the box it comes in is huge! But, I suppose it has to be in order to fit all of that information - joking!. The front shows off the main features of the NAS, along with a picture of the unit itself. Two of the major features highlighted is the 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, and 1GB DDR2 ram! For those unaware of what the Atom is, it's Intel's ultra-low power processor used in most netbooks today. They pack a major punch for the amount of power they consume. Some other notable features include RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 5 + Spare, and JBOD support, Dual Gigabit and many others! The right side of the box lists all of the hardware and software features of the unit -- sorry for the terrible quality! You can visit QNAP's website for further details on said features. The left side, and back of the box list even more features. It's as if QNAP fit their entire website on the box. The top of the box is nice and simple with the product's name, and a handy handle (no pun intended - partly). QNAP is also nice enough to put the UPC bar code on the top, as well as some other useful info like the serial number, and the two MAC Addresses for both Gigabit ports.
The box can easily be opened by pulling out the tab on the top rear of the box and lifting the top. When opened, you'll be greeted by a nice little welcome flap. It describes how to setup the NAS in three easy steps using the built in LCD, and provides you with links to helpful sites including the forums, downloads area, and support center.
The NAS itself is surrounded by two large blocks of foam, one on top and one on the bottom. I was pleasantly surprised by this, as it is a very effective method of protecting items; plus, you don't end up with a lot of little white thingies all over the floor when you're done - don't you just hate those? The NAS is surrounded in protective plastic so it doesn't scratched during handling. Next to the NAS is a large box filled with all of the accessories and goodies required to get the box up and running.
